ACCM represents all segments of America’s medical-cannabis industry. Our members produce, process, and distribute most of the nation’s medical cannabis. The industry supports over one million U.S. jobs and is backed by a growing grassroots movement of millions of Americans. ACCM was formed seven years ago first as a Capitol Hill working group, and now as a full advocacy, communications, and standards-setting industry council, we are the voice of American Medical Cannabis. In our first few years, ACCM has developed national relationships, established itself as a “Go To” information resource for legislators and communities, supported state legislation, aligned the largest group of medical-cannabis industry stakeholders, and now plays a significant role in the federal landscape. We are preparing to help develop standards to enhance operational and environmental safety, efficiency and sustainability. Although our focus is primarily domestic, in recent years our work has expanded to include a growing international dimension, and today ACCM is increasingly recognized around the world for its broad range of programs and desire to elevate medical cannabis:
Mission
ACCM’s mission is to advocate for greater access and professionally recognized research through a change in medical cannabis’s federal legal status—and thereby help mainstream medical acceptance of medical cannabis and its advanced therapies. We are committed to promoting safety across the industry and to influencing public policy in support of a strong, viable United States medical-cannabis industry.
Advocacy
We speak for the medical-cannabis industry to the public, Congress and the Executive Branch, state governments and the media. We cooperate with government and regulatory agencies, support the industry in legislative proceedings, participate in coalitions, and work in partnership with other associations to achieve our members’ public policy goals.
Advocacy Education
Our advocacy education and public outreach programs provide the ongoing resources and dialog to help the public learn about and facilitate participation in medical-cannabis through state approved programs. All directed by our social welfare mission of greater public access, and awareness of the medical efficacy of professionally administered programs.
ACCM Industry Distinction
The medical-cnnabis industry is becoming unified in our commitment to accelerating safety, research, access, and efficacy and medically focused professional progress across its operations, while meeting the demand for affordable, reliable and safer medical cannabis. Meeting this demand requires safe and responsible production, transportation, distribution. Under ACCM’s Medical Cannabis Distinction Program, ACCM members commit to accelerating professional progress by adhering to the 14-point Distinction elements that serve to continuously improve our performance as an industry. ACCM members apply these elements to serve their employees, patients, and their communities.
